Ali Shepherd

Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

I believe that it is one thing to listen to someone when they speak, but it is another to truly hear what they are saying. In sessions my aim is to offer true warmth and honesty so that we can work together in a trusting therapeutic relationship. I can offer you a safe, non-judgemental, confidential space, my full attention and support to look at any emotional, social or mental health issues that you wish to bring.

Working together, at your pace, we can explore what is troubling you, uncover any root causes and identify specific ways of thinking. We can then look at identifying what you need, create some strategies to help reconcile your issues and find ways of coping.

I am an integrative therapist; this means that I draw on different approaches to inform our work together. Therapy can be long or short term, dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, shame, blame, guilt, relationships, menopause, trauma, bereavement, low self-esteem and self-worth.

Training, qualifications & experience

My clinical and personal experience has been working with survivors of trauma, abuse and sexual violence, grief and the impact of medical issues including menopause.

I am passionate about offering support to anyone affected by the menopause, the implications of which can be overwhelming. Counselling provision can help women deal with the emotional impact of perimenopause and menopause. Having experienced this impact, first hand, and further educated myself on perimenopause and menopause support, I aim to offer space and time to discuss the mental health impacts and look at strategies that may help whilst navigating through your experience.
